Soccer

I absolutely adore soccer. I guess me being European has a lot to do with that. Europeans pretty much all love soccer. For some reason fans of soccer are also exceptionally loyal. They feel that they are a part of the team as well. They are so loyal and they are willing to fight the fans on the other team, sort of like this guy. I'm guessing they get into a dispute about the game...

Piri Reis

In 1929, a group of historians found an amazing map drawn on a gazelle skin.
Research showed that it was a genuine document drawn in 1513 by Piri Reis, a famous admiral of the Turkish fleet in the sixteenth century. The Piri Reis map shows the western coast of Africa, the eastern coast of South America, and the northern coast of Antarctica. The northern coastline of Antarctica is perfectly detailed. How Piri Reis managed to draw such an accurate map of the Antarctic region 300 years before it was discovered is debated greatly. I believe it to be the work of aliens. The alien theory is just one of the speculated theories but I find it to be the best one. How could he have possibly drawn it in such detail without the help of aliens.

More Comics

The comic life program is quite catchy as I have been working on it some more. Here is more of my work. Enjoy....

More Sketchup

Some more sketch-up stuff. This program is definitely a good skill to have. Pretty soon, there are no longer going to be 2D drawings of buildings. It will all be 3D, and not only can you make the building, you can take a tour inside by zooming in and walking through.

Chinese Culture

The Chinese like all other nations have a very unique culture. I decided to write about it because I am taking a class on Chinese family and kinship. It is a very interesting class and one of the topics we cover is marriage rituals. The bride and groom do not actually see each other until they are married. First the 8 characters of the bride and groom are put on a table and checked to see if they match. The 8 characters are the hour, day, month, and year the person is born in with 2 characters for each one. Next if the match is accepted by the heavens the groom's family sends the bride's family gifts called bridewealth. The bride's family gives some gifts to the new couple called dowry. Once the gifts are given, there is a 3 day celebration where the families feast. On the final day, the bride moves into her new home. As the bride is leaving, her father slams the door behind her so the family's fortune doesn't leave with the bride. The bride is carried to the groom's house on a chair(this was an old custom, brides are now taken by cars most of the time). The bride's feet cannot touch the ground until she gets to her new house. More on this another time.

Comic Life

For my interpretation of visual arts class, I am working on a program called comic life. Our assignment was to create a story of our family using comic life. I came up with something that I thought turned out pretty good. Comic starts from the bottom and reads up

sketchup

I've been working on this program called sketch-up. It's really cool. You get to make 3D objects. So I made a house and filled it with some pics of my family. I thought it came out looking pretty cool.
